This article analyzes the work of costume designers in the modern cinema of China that use elements of the historic Han Chinese clothing in various genres of the national contemporary feature film: historical and folk dramas, films in the genre of martial art and films in the genre of "fantasy". Materials of the analysis are the works of costume designers in the films of filmmakers working in the West, as well as filmmakers, who worked only in China.
