The rhetorical argumentation (method of doubt (nan) and questioning (wen)) on the example of “On spontaneity” (“Ziran pian”) chapter in lunheng (“Discourses weighed”) by Wang Chong (I century AD). The paper centers on Wang Chong’s methods of rhetorical argumentation, or, according to Wang Chong himself, the method of doubt (nan) and questioning (wen). The author analyzes two chapters from the Lunheng (“Discourses Weighed”), translated by the author into Russian – “On Spontaneity” (Ziran pian) and “Questioning Confucius” (Wen Kong). In these chapters, Wang Chong not only gives his own ideas, but also analyzes the thoughts of his predecessors. However, in this article, Wang Chong’s specific philosophical views are partially considered, and the main of analysis is the methods of rhetorical argumentation that he uses, the most common of which are the appeal to tradition and authority.
