Russian ecclesiastical mission plaed a significant part in Russian-Chinese civilization dialogue. Orthodox missionaries acted as mediators in bilateral contacts, which has enriched international communication. Within the walls of the mission the two countries met and formed each other’s images. Russian policy was propagated and a basis for future relations between the young Chinese and Russian state was formed. Orthodox missionary outreach can be considered a successful mechanism for establishing contacts with other countries.
