In this article we will investigate the specifics of the Buddhist phenomenon of reincarnation within the life of a main character from the novel 'Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out' by Mo Yan. A notion of rebirth in Buddhism could be explained through the feeling of desire possessed by every living creature. The main character is a landowner named Ximen Nao. One after another he rebirths into six different animals. Ximen Nao faces an appalling injustice while trying to change his destiny. In the end, the main character to weak to fight, realizes his essence and comes to terms with his fate. Therefore, he can break the Samsara circle.
