The article is devoted to the study of the life and work of Li Zhi, one of the most outstanding and controversial thinkers of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the history of formation and the first results of Li Zhi’s philosophical activities, as well as the personalities that had the most importance in his life and his thoughts. The author of the article examines the details of the life of the philosopher, the history of his family, his city and his life, all of this considered as factors that influenced the further development of his philosophical thoughts.
