This article is devoted to revealing the peculiarities of the poetics of the Eastern Han epistles (II century A.D.) — the first poetic love messages in the history of Chinese literature. The poems of Qin Jia “Sending to my wife” (Zeng fu shi), his three-part poetic cycle “Remaining in my native region, I send to my wife” (Liu jun zeng fu shi) and a poem by an unknown author “The daughter of shao-fu Cui bestows a poem upon Lu Chun” (Cui shaofu nü zeng Lu Chong shi) — has never before been the subject of translation and study in the history of Russian synology. As the main parameters of the complex analysis of the works, we have selected the poetic form, features of the composition, themes, motifs and types of communication between them, the realization of the genre features of the message, the presence / absence of signs of other genres in the poems, various means of artistic expressiveness. In addition, since there are not only separate poems among the considered works, but also poetic cycles, this article also pays attention to the coverage of the problems of the poetic cycle as such. Thus, based on the results of the study, we can formulate general characteristics of the genre of poetic love messages at the turn of two epochs — Antiquity and Middle Ages.
