The article examines the role of religion in Chinese society at the present stage using the example of qigong practice. As you know, within the framework of religious Taoism, there were many different gymnastic and physical practices, which in the twentieth century. became part of popular culture. In this paper, we analyze the role of qigong in the spread of Taoist ideas among the Chinese. As you know, qigong is the most massive movement in the PRC, which means it has great potential for spreading Taoist teachings. Recently, there has been a tendency for the Chinese Communist Party to revise its attitude to religion. In this regard, the article focuses on the situation in which religion will again have to adapt to the requirements of the authorities.
