Language teaching includes not only a language, but also the culture that a language carries. TCSL (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) overseas now has made culture teaching merely a supporting role in language teaching because of various situations. It is even regarded as dispensable, which causes learners to have little knowledge of the essence of culture behind the language. In order to take culture teaching a part of the main curriculum, through my teaching experiences in Chinese immersion school in USA and Indonesia, I would like to share the experience when designing and preparing for the lesson plan and how it is implemented by following the “ADDIE” instructional model to provide an example and inspirations for TCSL overseas.
