This lecture was held on November 13 as a part of the activities of the 10th Open Dialogue event.
The speaker is a representative of the Beijing Tangfeng Chinese Education Technology Co. Ltd., which was established in 2006. Nowadays it is the biggest company in the world that provides a high quality education in the sphere of Chinese language. Therefore, the speaker describes the educational system and some of the approaches which the company uses in different countries to teach Chinese.

The 6th Open Dialogue for professors and teachers of Chinese took place in the World Calligraphy Museum in Sokolniki on December 15. You can find more detailed information about this event on its official page.

International book fair "non/fictio№ 21" was held at the very beginning of December. This year it took place in “Gostiniy Dvor”, Moscow. Among the participants of the fair were not only Russian publishing houses, but also some foreign companies, including Taiwanese “Shans International Publishing & Media Group Limited”. This time “Shans” publishing house attracted the attention of visitors by its collection of Chinese authors, training manuals, children’s books, but the best representative of the collection was a child-friendly illustrated edition of Wu Cheng’en’s novel “Journey to the West”. Moreover, we managed to visit the presentation of the book.
The reprint was presented by Svetlana Nikolskaya (PhD in philology, Associate Professor of Department of Chinese Philology of Lomonosov State University), who was speaking about the novel and its special place in Chinese film industry and in the life of Chinese people and nation in general. Great advantages of this child-friendly edition are: 1) it is designed for children from 12 years, but it is also suitable for pupils and students learning Chinese; 2) it is a bilingual book; 3) there is an audio version of the book (in Russian only).
We think that this reprint has every opportunity to attract different groups of people, not even connected with China or Chinese language in a professional way.

Magic Chinese Lantern Festival is a bright and unusual event, which bound modern technologies and one of the main Chinese traditions together. Every visitor will be inspired by the atmosphere of China and the holiday atmosphere of upcoming New Year celebrations. All these luminous pandas, white bears, monkeys and different inhabitants of marine flora and fauna, sparkling traditional Chinese palaces and even Father Frost with Snow Maiden will please the eyes of the Moscovites and the guests of the city for the next three months. More than 40 giant figures including lighting systems were brought to Moscow by the Chinese company Haitian Culture. This company has already visited the USA, Canada, Lithuania, Holland, Italy, Estonia, Belarussia, Germany, Spain, Great Britain and many other countries with its shows and exhibitions.

The exhibition “Chinese Tea” was held on November 22-24 in Sokolniki. We managed to interview several tea-growers from different parts of Fujian province. You can watch the video on our YouTube channel.

The 2nd Open Dialogue took place on December 9, 2018. The topic of the event was: Training of Translators in Institutions of Higher Education.
There were Russian and foreign professors and candidates of sciences and other speakers who spoke to the guests.

This Open Dialogue took place in Moscow on April 17, 2019. Some famous dialectologists presented their reports during the event, for example:  

• Olga Zavyalova (PhD in philology, Chief Science Officer at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences) – “Linguistic Diversity in China” ,
• Alexey Aleksakhin (PhD in philology, professor, Head of the Department of Chinese, Vietnamese, Lao and Thai Languages, MGIMO University, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation) – “Typology of Chinese Phonological Systems”,
• and some speakers of the dialects: Song Shiming宋世明 （北京话）, Yang Jin 杨进 （唐山话）, Huo dong 霍栋 （大同话）, Xing Bo 邢博 （陕西）, Liu Dongzi刘东姿 （晋语）, Muhammad Madivan – Dungan, Wu Rongwei 吴荣微 （客家话）, Liu Miaowen 刘淼文 （客家话）, Hu Zhiyuan 胡志远 （闽南语、温州语 、 徐嫿兒 、闽南语）， Wu Chi-Yuan吳季遠 （闽南语）, Xie Mingming 谢铭明 （粤语）.

In this lecture the speaker Olga Zavyalova analyzes the reasons why Chinese dialects are disappearing. She compares this process to the disappearance of languages and dialects taking place all over the world. She also touched upon the issue of dialect sub-groups co-existence by giving some real-life examples.

The speaker of the lecture is Peng Sinpeng who is introducing Wuhan food. She admits that she has chosen this topic because many people are staying at home right now and the only entertainment is to cook and eat. But this lecture can be also a good way to learn the culture of Wuhan.

The speaker is Yang Chunya (楊淳雅), her family are representatives of the Minnan culture in Taiwan. The girl says that most of Taiwanese Han people come from Fujian and Guangdong provinces, so the Minnan dialect has become the main one in Taiwan and sometimes is called the "Taiwan language". Yang Chunya also describes architecture, traditional food and clothing of the Minnan culture.

It is a big lecture by Marjorie K.M. Chan (陳潔雯) where she describes the phonetic realization of the so-called "zero initial". She compares Zhongshan dialect to standard Cantonese one to show this phenomena. These differences have implications for translanguaging, be it communication by bidialectal or bilingual speakers.

Trained as a linguist, Dr. Andy Chin has a wide range of interests in linguistics research, including linguistic typology, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, and Chinese linguistics. He has undertaken different types of projects.
In 2012 Andy Chin developed the Corpus of Mid-20th Century Hong Kong Cantonese with data drawn from the speech dialogues recorded in early Cantonese movie produced between 1943 and 1970. The cinematic nature of the corpus can also be used for studying the inter-relationship between language and culture and society.

Shi Shuyang (石姝阳) is a young girl whose mother tongue is the Jin dialect. She tells about the main features of the Jin dialect spoken in Inner Mongolia. She also describes the culture of that region of China, for example, she tells about the traditional salted tea with milk and traditional cuisine.
